Carwow YouTube channel published a video with a special version of Ford Mustang called Bullit and LC 500 sports coupe, which fought in a drag race (on a straight track). Earlier these cars had not yet met at the races.
A special version of the Ford Mustang is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the movie Bullit, starring Steve McQueen. In that film, he drove a 1968 Ford Mustang, making it one of the most recognizable cars in the world. A total of two of these cars were featured in the movie.
The revived sports car is equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 gasoline engine. Power of the aggregate is 457 horsepower. In the U.S. the car is equipped with the same engine, but there its payoff has been increased to 475 horsepower. The engine works together with a six-speed manual transmission. Maximum speed is 270 km per hour.
The rear-drive LC 500 comes with a five-liter atmospheric V8 unit producing 477 horsepower. The engine is combined with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The coupe is capable of gaining the first "hundred" in 4.4 seconds.
It is noteworthy that both cars involved in the race are painted in green. The races themselves took place on the runway in the rain. In addition to the traditional 402 meters straight line race, the cars competed in acceleration at an average speed. Final victory was for Japanese coupe. There were not professional racers at a wheel of cars.
