The ZAM – "Zentrum für Austausch und Machen" (Center for Sharing and Making) is operated by the non-profit "Betreiberverein Makerspace+ für Erlangen e.V." and funded primarily through the municipal cultural office. It is located at the heart of the city of Erlangen in a 3.000+ square meter building.

During the prototype-phase, until approx. 2023, a reduced set of tools and programs will be available as a foretaste of what is to come.

Funding and space is secured to establish wood and metal workshops, rapid prototyping and electronics labs, sewing and printing studios as well as a dedicated bio-hacking space. While these facilities make up the core of ZAM, they will be accompanied by a Café, space for project development, exhibitions and even an apartment for visiting artists, makers and supporters.
