STEM INNOVATION PETROVIETNAM LABORATORY AT LUONG SON HIGH SCHOOL – A CREATIVE LEARNING SPACE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

As Vietnam enters a new era of development driven by science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, the education sector is undergoing significant reforms to cultivate a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of national industrialization and modernization. The establishment of modern STEM laboratories in schools plays a vital role in improving educational quality while fostering students' creativity, scientific thinking, and practical skills.

Originating from the initiative of General Secretary To Lam, the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam Program has been implemented by the Vietnam National Industry – Energy Group (Petrovietnam) to establish 100 international-standard STEM laboratories across 34 provinces and centrally governed cities nationwide. The program contributes to implementing the Party's policies on science, technology, innovation, and education while demonstrating Petrovietnam's strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainable educational development.

It is a great honor for Luong Son High School, Phu Tho Province, to be selected as one of only three high schools in the province to receive funding under this prestigious program. This recognition reflects the school's continuous efforts to improve educational quality and serves as a powerful motivation for its teachers and students to pursue further innovation and excellence.

The STEM Innovation Petrovietnam Laboratory is equipped with modern facilities and advanced educational technologies designed to support competency-based teaching and learning. The laboratory provides a flexible and collaborative learning environment where students can engage in scientific research, experimentation, engineering design, project-based learning, and creative exploration.

For teachers, the laboratory offers valuable opportunities to adopt innovative teaching methods, integrate technology into classroom instruction, and organize practical learning activities that encourage students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. Instead of relying solely on traditional classroom instruction, students can actively conduct experiments, design prototypes, develop technological solutions, and solve practical problems through interdisciplinary STEM learning.

For students, the laboratory opens the door to an inspiring educational environment where curiosity and creativity are encouraged. Through hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, students develop critical thinking, teamwork, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and innovation—essential competencies for success in the twenty-first century.

Beyond supporting the regular curriculum, the STEM laboratory also serves as a center for extracurricular scientific activities, STEM clubs, engineering competitions, research projects, innovation challenges, and career orientation programs. It is expected to nurture students' passion for scientific discovery while identifying and developing young talents in science and technology.

The inauguration of the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam Laboratory marks an important milestone in Luong Son High School's journey toward educational modernization. More than simply providing advanced equipment, this project reflects the strong support and commitment of the Party, the Government, the Ministry of Education and Training, local authorities, and Petrovietnam to promoting STEM education as a key foundation for developing Vietnam's future workforce.

The school is committed to making effective use of this valuable facility by continuously improving teachers' professional capacity, promoting innovative teaching approaches, strengthening scientific research activities, and expanding STEM education programs in accordance with the 2018 General Education Curriculum. These efforts aim to provide students with a modern, engaging, and high-quality learning experience.
