Located in the Zaimokuza neighborhood of Kamakura, Japan, Skylabworkshop is one of 3 fablabs in the Kamakura Fab-Ecosystem, along with Fablab Kamakura and Keio University's Recycreation Lab. Inspired by concepts outlined by Seymour Papert in "Mindstorms", Skylabworkshop aims primarily to be a "Learning Base" for kids, where they can explore, experiment and learn about technology and fabrication in a self-directed way. Architecturally designed to be open and welcoming to the public, Skylabworkshop also aims to be a gathering place for knowledge and idea sharing through regular talks and discussion events, as well as a laboratory for creatives and researchers to pursue innovations.
