The MVES VW eLab has become a place where students discover that learning is something they can touch, build, test, and create. More than a makerspace, the eLab helps encourage and build curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and problem solving. It gives every student opportunities to explore ideas, take risks, learn from failure, and discover that they are capable of creating solutions.
The eLab helps bring classroom learning to life and gives students authentic opportunities to apply what they are learning. It provides a space where students can make connections, use technology with purpose, and develop skills that will serve them well beyond elementary school.
Perhaps the greatest impact is the confidence it builds. Students begin to see themselves as designers, engineers, creators, communicators, and innovators. They learn that there is value in asking “What if?”, trying something new, and figuring out what to do when something doesn't work the first time.
Our lab provides the tools to help make all of this possible including over 15 3D printers, 2 Glowforge Pro Laser Cutters, 6 Cricuts, a Roland Vinyl Cutter, a multitude of wood working/power tools, and a multitude of electronics parts to inspire students to find the best tool for the job and create something amazing!
