Leigh Works is a social enterprise makerspace and coworking hub based on Bradshawgate in Leigh town centre, Greater Manchester. We’re here so people in Leigh can access real tools, a workspace, and a community of makers without needing to travel to Manchester.
Since we opened in 2019, we’ve expanded from 185m² to 600m² thanks to grants and social investment. Our space welcomes freelancers, start-ups, small creative businesses, and a growing community of makers.
Our latest addition is the Smart Workshop, made possible by funding from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Foundational Economy Innovation Fund. Here, you’ll find laser cutting, FDM and resin 3D printing, CNC routing, vinyl cutting, textiles, and wood and metalwork all in one place, right next to our electronics lab and media studios. Members take part in inductions and then use an app built on Nemiah’s cosmOS platform to access machines and track their skills as they learn.
We keep things accessible with day passes, an Inspire discount, and £5 workshops. Our goal is to encourage people to join in, not to make a profit.
We’re members of the European Creative Hubs Network and collaborate with Wigan & Leigh College, the University of Salford, and STEM Ambassadors on placements and outreach.
