Education is the foundation of our economy. What and how we learn in school determines who we become as individuals. It informs how we solve problems, how we work with others, and how we look at the world around us. In today’s innovative economy, education becomes even more important for developing the next generation of innovators and creative thinkers.

A VW eLab is a designated space in the school where we can all come to put classroom learning into applied practice. It provides a real-world experience for students. We have all kinds of impressive tools that students and teachers can come use to prototype and revise solutions toward a goal. Students use 3D printers, laser cutter/engravers, vinyl cutters, and CNC routers to make prototypes as they connect their content learning standards into applied practices.

The great poet William Butler Yeats once said, “Education should not be the filling of a pail, but the lightning of a fire.” Innovative teaching does more than just “filling the pail”. Hixson High School hopes to ignite a passion for learning and provide students with the tools they need to be successful in the future.
