The Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR), created in 1968, is an institution that brings together twelve faculties, a center for interdisciplinary studies, and five institutes of secondary education. In particular, the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas, Ingeniería y Agrimensura (FCEIA) offers several undergraduate and postgraduate courses based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The FCEIA works in close collaboration with the institutes located in the Ciudad Universitaria de Rosario (CUR), carrying out research in joint projects with the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET).
The FABLAB UNR is a workshop created in 2020 within the FCEIA to carry out design, prototyping, and manufacturing projects, mostly related to the engineering courses. This laboratory, located in the Escuela de Ingeniería Mecánica (EIM) at the CUR, has CNC mills and lathes, 3D printers, laser cutters, among other smaller equipement.
The teaching activities at FABLAB UNR are part of an active line of research on STEAM education for engineering careers, developed in collaboration with the Instituto Rosario de Investigaciones en Ciencias de la Educación (IRICE: CONICET-UNR) in the context of the Dispositivos Intermediales Dinámicos team.
