Apison Elementary's VW eLab is a complete digital fabrication lab and STEM classroom. We start introducing the elements of Engineering and Design to students as early as kindergarten. They have the chance to start with simple things like 3D pens and, by the time they're in 5th grade, they are creating 3D designs in CAD software and printing them on our 3D printers. We have over a dozen working 3D printers and three laser cutters as well as other support equipment to facilitate students moving from concept to design to working prototype. As a VW eLab, we are supported by Volkswagen and the (PEF) Public Education Foundation. They work in conjunction with our school district, Hamilton County Schools, to assist us in providing quality STEM education opportunities to students of all backgrounds and skill levels.
