The Things Network Building a fully distributed internet of things data infrastructure in France

Description

The Things Network is building a network for the Internet of Things by creating abundant data connectivity, so applications and businesses can flourish.
The technology we use is called LoRaWAN and it allows for things to talk to the internet without 3G or WiFi. So no WiFi codes and no mobile subscriptions.
It features low battery usage, long range and low bandwidth. Perfect for the internet of things.

What's that ? How does it works ? See https://www.thethingsnetwork.org/docs/

Step 2

Setup a LoRaWAN gateway for The Things Network

Follow this tutorial (in french) to set up your own gateway and add it to The Things Network : http://wikifab.org/wiki/D%C3%A9ployer_une_passerelle_LoRaWAN_pour_The_Things_Network

Step 3

Test the gateway with an Arduino board

There are a lot of ways to test the gateway. You could follow this tutorial to create your first connected device : http://wikifab.org/wiki/The_Things_Network_Arduino_MKR_WAN_1300

Scope

LABSud was the first fablab in France to contribute to extend The Things Network by creating a TTN community and setting up the first gateway in Montpellier - France.

Our goal is very simple : we would like to see other fablab in France setting up their own gateway to extend the network in France !
